OUR STORY
Southern Rustic Art (SRA) was formed in late 2020 and manufactures artwork made from steel and wood, as well as producing commercial signs and other bespoke custom pieces. SRA is a partnership between the founder and artist Cole and his partner Fiona.

Cole learned to make steel art in 1998 as a 10 year old, after flying from NZ to Australia with his dad to learn the craft. In 2001 Cole started making plasma art as a part-time after hours hobby in the North Island, but became too busy with his day job to keep up with demand and ceased operations.

After meeting his southern belle, Fiona, Cole moved to the deep south in 2020 and found time to return to his passion for steel art. Within weeks of operating part-time from a single garage with a handheld plasma cutter, it became clear that in order to keep up with demand and requests for larger commercial signage and more intricate custom designs a larger commercial set-up would be required.

SRA purchased a CNC machine, which arrived mid January 2021, and will be relocating to a larger premises shortly.
